    Master Plan
    Woodlawn, Chicago

CAD and Illustrator | Fall 2008
(designed in team of six, diagrams by myself)

Upon our return from Europe, we were challenged to face many of the problems of United States cities. Our first project senior year was the redevelopment of the Woodlawn neighborhood of Chicago. It was formerly the site of the 1892 Chicago World's Fair, but has fallen into disrepair since the mid-20th century. We proposed creating two main spines on the site (in red, slide 3) with three urban cores that were within a 5-minute walk of most of the neighborhood (dotted orange circles). We also created retail and residential infill (dark gray, slide 2) to help define the streets, placed several important civic buildings such as a new train station, museum, and community theatre, and ensured that residents would have access to adequate schools and green spaces.
