Elston Community Theater
Michigan City, Indiana
CAD and Photoshop | Fall 2008
This 250-seat theater, with full backstage support, traps, and orchestra pit, was created for Michigan City's downtown. The flexible design features a full-service café at street level and two multi-use event/conference spaces on the second floor. Shown on slide 3 is the theater's multi-zone HVAC system. Each color on the plan designates a different zone that can be heated and cooled independently of other zones. An HVAC room, constructed on a separate foundation in order to prevent the transfer of noise and vibration to the theater spaces, supplies all zones. The HVAC design - along with other passive heating and ventilation techniques - allows for significant energy savings.
