Roman Townhouse
Rome, Italy
Hand Drafting and Watercolor | Fall 2007
During my year of study in Rome, we analyzed the urban conditions of the city. Sadly, many piazze have been converted into parking lots. To help the Piazza di San Salvatore in Lauro, five other students and I split the large parking lot into two separate piazze and added new townhouses and shops to help define each space. We also provided a nearby school with a dedicated pickup area for parents, included underground parking, and added new fountains and arcades to connect the piazze.
Shown here are a cutaway axon and a skewed elevation of my individual townhouse design. It features a balcony and outdoor terrace, with views of Rome's Castel Sant'Angelo. Shops are located on the ground floor of the townhouse.
